3D Secure 2.2
The 3D Secure 2.2 protocol adopted by the main international circuits, introduces new authentication methods, able to improve and speed up the cardholder's purchase experience.
In particular, the protocol allows an exchange of more information between the merchant and the card issuer, in order to allow a better assessment of the risk of the transaction, simplifying the customer's purchase experience and improving the conversion rate at check out.
In many cases the information retrieved from the purchaser's device and the additional information passed by the merchant will be sufficient to authenticate the card holder transparently, without further interaction. In some cases, instead, for transactions that present higher risks, active authentication of the customer will be required.
